Having reputation of being lively party-island, nights in San Andres and Providencia are magical and charming with rustic rum shacks and thatched-roof seafood diners providing a real flavour of island life.
Several restaurants and kiosks throughout the island offer international and local food. Open-air bars and discos are very popular with residents and visitors. Get-togethers around a seaside bonfire and to the rhythm of mento, calypso, salsa and reggae are traditional.
Caribe dreams night venues have a relaxed, easy-going feel. Most can be found on Avenida Colombia and Avenida Newball with plenty of bars, restaurants, salsa clubs and live music also found in many larger hotels. Bars and a few open-air night clubs are frequented by a mix of islanders and tourists while groups of local musicians often perform on the beach. Those lucky enough to arrive on a full moon can join in the celebrations at Manchineel Bay or Southwest Bay. A bonfire is lit to the pulsating sounds of loud reggae music. Rum flows like water until the party ends at dawn.
